I thought to go to Station Dormitory to sleep. So I went to the counter where I could book a bed. But no one was there. So, I was standing there waiting for someone to come up and this guard came up to me and asked me something in Tamil. I have no idea what he said but still I replied him ,”Dormitory Khali hai Kya?(Is there any bed vacant in Dormitory?)”. He told me to wait in his Tamil accent. So I kept standing there and waiting with two bags on my back. After a while he said,”Why are you standing? Go there is a vacant seat. Sit there. “

Nice person.

Thanks to South Indian movies I’m also scared of people here because everyone looks like some villain from those movies.

I tried to buy a coffee to keep me awake till my parents arrive. So, I went to the shop and asked the vendor for a coffee. Then he said something in Tamil which totally sounded gibberish to me but by his facial expressions and movement of eyes I thought he was asking about the scars on my hands. So, I confidently replied him, “Skin disease”. That’s it. Just two words. He again started to say something in Tamil. Out of which I could get only two words – “Infection” and “Ayurvedic”. I assumed that he must be asking about where am I treating it from. So when he said “infection”, I nodded my head positively and when he said “Ayurvedic”, I nodded my head negatively and said “CMC”. He again said something in Tamil to which I smiled and I took my coffee from him and walked away awkwardly.

It’s going to be tough.

I arrived at Katpadi junction railway station around 11:40pm. The weather is moderately cool but humid and moist. I can feel oil and stickyness on my face and in the air. I am little bit scared as I’m in uncharted territory. I don’t know the native language. People are strange and don’t look like regular ones I’m used to see in North India (stereotypical me). Every other person looks like a character drawn out of South Indian movies.

So I decided to not to go out of station looking for some place to stay and spend my night here at station. It’s my safe place for now.
